#1. Does the Bible say who are the 2 end time witnesses? 

No, the Word of God doesn’t name them directly. The 2 end time witnesses/prophets are found in the Holy Bible in Zechariah 4 & Revelation 11:3-12 with most of the information being located in the book of Revelation. 

 

Their identities are never given, nor does it say they are male and/or female. The most common beliefs are that the 2 witnesses are either Elijah and Enoch, or Elijah and Moses,or even possibly John who was given the book of Revelation although there are others out there as well. Moses has been considered a possibility because of the anointing the 2 end time witnesses/prophets shall operate in. That’s what it is…the holy anointing through the Holy Spirit who is the anointing that’s placed upon the 2 individuals will determine who the 2 end time witnesses are, nor people in general from the past or any other time era. Let’s continue. 

 

For many they believe since Elijah and Enoch were taken into Heaven without dying, that it has to be them. 

 

Genesis 5:24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. 

 

1 Kings 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

 

As for John, for some it is because of these verses, in addition to the uncertainty in His death. 

 

John 21:21-23

21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?

22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.

23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?

 

It is even suggested that John may have been taken up to Heaven without dying but there is no evidence showing the full proof of this or his death. That would make 3 people possibly who did not die.

 

The Scripture many quote to support their beliefs that the 2 witnesses has to one of these is: 

 

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 

 

If we’re all appointed with an appointment with death that can never be changed, then Enoch, Elijah and possibly John will have to return to earth after living in Heaven with a changed, glorified body, to have their earthly bodies returned so that they can die. The 2 witnesses would die at the appointed time by the antichrist, the beast’s hands.

 

Revelation 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. 

 

This is faulty because we also have to consider God might have possibly taken more of His children to Heaven without them dying. Most people don’t take into consideration that Father God in Heaven may have taken more people to Heaven without dying than what’s recorded. One example recorded can be found in the Apocrypha which originally was part of the Holy Bible until men chose to remove it…Not God.

 

In 2 Esdras 8:19 which ends with this sentence. This is the beginning of the words of Esdras (Ezra) [Esdras is latin for Ezra] before he was taken up. Let’s not forget, according to the Word of God Jesus Christ said that Scripture cannot be broken.

 

John 10:35  If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 

 

If the Scripture cannot be broken then we must take into account the Bride of Christ who will be caught up to Jesus Christ in what many call the rapture and will still be alive. Their bodies will be changed like Jesus Christ’s without dying a physical death.

 

1 Corinthians 15:51-52 

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 

 

1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 

 

Through these passages in the Word of God we see those who are caught up or raptured to meet Jesus Christ in the air are alive, not dead. God determines who lives or dies, so He can choose whether we keep an appointment with death or not. He’s God, we are not! 

 

Job 14:5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; 

 

Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 

 

Acts 17:25-26

25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

 

Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. 

 

#2. More on, ‘Why do people believe Moses & Elijah are the 2 witnesses?’

Now let’s go back a moment to those who believe the 2 witnesses have to be Elijah and Moses. 

One belief is because it was Moses and Elijah who appeared to Jesus Christ in the transfiguration. I have included all three accounts purposefully. When you read them, pay attention to Luke’s account. In verse 31 he explains the purpose for Moses and Elijah appearing to Jesus Christ on earth was to speak to him about His upcoming death in Jerusalem

 

Transfiguration Verses: 

 

Matthew 17:1-9

1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

 

Mark 9:2-8

2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.

5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

6 For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.

7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

 

Luke 9:28-36 

28 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.

29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.

30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:

31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.

32 But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

33 And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.

34 While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

36 And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

 

Again, one of the most prominent reasons for some is because of Revelation 11:5-6 which tells of the power, the anointing of God displayed in their lives through both of them. Let’s first be clear as was discussed prior there aren’t any separate anointings. 

 

Revelation 11:5-6

5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

 

The Word of God says this also:

 

Ephesians 4:4-6 

4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 

5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. 

 

What does this mean? 

In 1 John 2:27 the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost is also called the Anointing. 

 

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. 

 

There is only one Spirit and one Anointing and it’s through this one anointing that we each operate and utilize through the power of the Holy Ghost the gifts we are given for our callings. The 2 witnesses of the end times will utilize the same part of His anointing power that Moses and Elijah operated in and even more. It does not mean Moses, Elijah, Enoch or anyone else will return from Heaven to be the witnesses so they can die after having been given a glorified body in Heaven.

 

To summarize it, the 2 end time witnesses' names according to the Word of God are never given, although some say they are Zerubabel and Joshua.

 

#3. Are Joshua the High Priest and Zerubbabel the 2 witnesses?. 

 

Key passages of Scripture concerning their roles in history and the symbolic meaning references are found in Haggai 1 & 2; Ezra 3; Zechariah 3:1-5; 6:9-14 

 

The symbolic spiritual meaning of Joshua the High priest and Zerubbabel are in relation to Jesus Christ the coming Messiah. 

 

1. The Book of Haggai 

 

Haggai 1:14 And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the Lord of hosts, their God, 

 

So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel…and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest…” This highlights Joshua’s God-ordained motivation in the temple’s reconstruction.

 

Haggai 2:2 Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying, 

 

Haggai 2:2 again speaks to Joshua, emphasizing how God directly addressed him together with Zerubbabel, demonstrating divine endorsement for both the civil and priestly roles. 

 

2. The Book of Zechariah 

 

Zechariah 3:1-5

1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.

4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by.

 

These verses in Zechariah 3:1-5 recounts a vision in which Joshua stands before the Angel of the LORD while Satan accuses him. In that vision, Joshua’s filthy garments are replaced with clean garments, symbolizing the cleansing of sin and renewed favor from God. 

 

Zechariah 6:9-14

9 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

10 Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah;

11 Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest;

12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The Branch; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord:

13 Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

14 And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the Lord.

 

Zechariah 6:9-14 describes a symbolic crowning of Joshua. While Zerubbabel was of the Davidic line, the crowning of the High Priest pointed to messianic expectations-unifying both the priestly and royal aspects in the future Messiah. 

 

3. The Book of Ezra 

 

Ezra 3:2 Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God. 

 

This verse of Ezra 3:2 names Jeshua (another form of ‘Joshua’) the son of Jozadak leading the people in rebuilding the altar. This passage provides a narrative setting where Joshua/Jeshua, as High Priest, oversaw sacrifices and restored proper worship from the earliest phase of returning to Jerusalem. 

 

Zechariah’s prophecies in chapter 6 about Joshua point to a coming figure who combines the offices of priest and king in one. Though Zerubbabel was the governor from David’s line, the crowning of Joshua in Zechariah 6:11-13 provides an image of unified spiritual and royal authority that highlights God’s promised Messiah. Thus, Joshua’s story anticipates a greater redemption, offering hope that God will not only rebuild the temple but also bring true restoration through a future “Branch” (Zechariah 6:12).

 

Both of these men have already died. Their flesh has decomposed and their bodies returned to dust as the Word of God tells us they do. They have already had their appointment with death. 

The spirit departs, meaning the silver cord of life is fully cut, and their spirits, at God’s appointed time, return to God. (This is why the enemy cannot raise the dead, because the spirits of those that die return to God. It is only through deception that the enemy will deceive people into thinking they have brought someone back from the dead.) It’s the anointing, the Holy Spirit that Jesus Christ, the Branch made possible to send down to all who accepts Him as Lord that these two are representing and even what they were operating in when their spirits were stirred. This is my understanding from these combined verses.

 

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. 

 

Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. 

 

Ecclesiastes 12:6-7 

6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. 7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

 

Psalms 104:29-30 

29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust. 

30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth. 

 

Job 34:14-15 

14 If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; 

15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust. 

 

Another fact is in the Word of God we find instances in the Old and New Testament of the dead being raised, and brought back to life. In all these instances it’s concerning a person whose body is still residing on the earth (so not being translated/caught up) and it’s always before their body has fully decayed and returned to the earth as dust. Except for the saints that rose when He was resurrected who appeared alive in Jerusalem. 

 

The People raised from the dead in the Holy Bible in both the Old and New Testaments were always raised, brought back to life in a matter of days. Not weeks, months or years later. God doesn’t change, nor does His Son Jesus Christ, it says Malachi 3: and Hebrews 13:8.

 

This is the pattern He and Jesus Christ operate in. Joshua the High Priest and Zerubbabel both have died, been buried and their bodies returned to dust. They have already past the point of accounts written in the Word of God of when Father God and Jesus Christ called the person’s spirit of life back into their bodies. Jesus Christ and Father God do not change it says Malachi 3:6 & Hebrews 13:8. It’s not beyond their power to recreate a body that has returned to dust, but according to the Word of God they have chosen not to do so.

 

The physical body has to be changed to be able to enter Heaven. We know this from the Word of God. Otherwise our bodies wouldn’t have to be changed as we are told they would be. How many times is it written in the Word of God that once a person is glorified and part of Heaven that God changes their body back to a fleshly body that was cursed when Adam and Eve sinned to return to earth?  Instead this is what the Word says about our fleshly bodies. 

 

Philippians 3:20-21 

20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 

21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. 

 

1 Corinthians 15:50-54 

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

John 11:23-25 

23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. 

24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. 

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 

John 5:2 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. 

 

This eliminates Joshua the High Priest and Zerubbabel as the 2 end time witnesses because they have already died and their bodies returned to earth. The 2 end time Witnesses will die by the hands of the beast antichrist as Revelation 11:7 says they will. Here are those occurrences found inside the Scripture of Truth of the dead being raised. 

 

Old Testament

Elijah:Widow’s Son at Zarephath – 1 Kings 17:17–24; Elisha: Shunammite’s Son – 2 Kings 4:18–37; Man Raised by Elisha’s Bones – 2 Kings 13:20–21 

New Testament

Jesus: Widow’s Son at Nain – Luke 7:11–17; Jesus: Jairus’s Daughter – Mark 5:21–43 (also in Matthew 9:18–26, Luke 8:40–56); Jesus: Lazarus of Bethany – John 11:1–44 ; Peter: Tabitha (Dorcas) – Acts 9:36–42; Paul: Eutychus fell out window -Acts 20:7–12; Jesus raised from dead - Matthew 28:1–10, Mark 16:1–7; Luke 24:1–49; John 20:1–29

 

Here’s what I believed happened to Joshua the High Priest and Zerubbabel. 

 

Matthew 27:50-53 

50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 

52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 

53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. 

 

Many saints of God were seen walking around in the holy city after Jesus Christ was resurrected. These saints, in my understanding, are those He took with Him when He returned to Heaven after being resurrected. They make up the great cloud of witnesses written about in Hebrews 12:1. Since Joshua the High Priest and Zerubbabel were righteous men then they would most likely be included in those resurrected. 

 

As far as the identity of the 2 end time witnesses we see they are whoever God calls them to be with the power of the anointing being utilized in them by the sweet Holy Spirit such were demonstrated by Moses and Elijah in their days. That’s all it is. 

 

Let’s first be clear, there aren’t any separate anointings. How do we know this? The Word of God says this:

So they are whoever God calls them to be with the power of the anointing being utilized in them by the sweet Holy Spirit such were demonstrated by Moses and Elijah in their days. That’s all it is. 

 

#4. Has Other Prophets Operated in the Holy Spirit’s Anointing like Moses or Elijah in the Word of God? 

 

In 1 Kings 17:1; James 5:17; 1 Kings 18:41-42 we read how part of the anointing Elijah operated in was in fire and rain. Concerning Elijah and the rain, in these passages of the Word of God Elijah prayed there wouldn’t be any rain for 3 years. In James we actually find out it was for 3 ½ years. Then when Elijah prayed once again in faith to God in heaven, it began to rain again. But Elijah is not the only one. Samuel, a righteous man anointed by God to be the judge of the people. He prayed and asked God to send rain which He did by sending both rain and thunder. 

 

1 Samuel 12:18-19 

18 So Samuel called unto the Lord; and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel. 

19 And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the Lord thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask us a king. 

 

In addition, Revelation 11:6 reveals to us that both of the 2 witnesses will operate in this part of the anointing that Elijah did. It is both of them and not just one. Therefore it rules out by this verse alone it was only Elijah who had these abilities in the Holy Spirit’s anointing. 

 

Revelation 11:6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. 

 

When we study the plagues of Egypt you will read how Aaron under Moses’ instructions from God called forth some of the plagues too. Again showing it is the anointing and not just certain people alone who operate in these powers from Father God. It’s through His Spirit. 

 

Exodus 7:1-2

1 And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

2 Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.

 

Exodus 7:19-20

19 And the Lord spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.

20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the Lord commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

 

Exodus 8:5-6

5 And the Lord spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.

6 And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.

 

Exodus 9:8-10

8 And the Lord said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.

9 And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.

10 And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast.

 

Another point in the Word of God is that Elisha received a double portion of Elijah’s spirit. This would be the Holy Spirit inside of Elijah he was referring to, yet the Word of God never speaks of him calling down fire as Elijah did. As far as water is concerned he made the bitter/poisoned waters sweet by casting salt into them. Both Elijah and Elisha raised the dead showing their power came from the same anointing through the Holy Spirit but they were operating in Him differently.

 

2 Kings 2:9-12 & 15 

9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.

11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him. 

 

 Kings 2:19-22

19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.

20 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.

21 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.

22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.

 

But wait! Didn’t Moses also make poisoned bitter waters sweet through the power of the Holy Spirit in His life too? I’m sure He did because it’s one anointing, one Holy Spirit we all operate through. 

 

Exodus 15:23-25

23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.

24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

25 And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

What about the disciples and apostles who operated in the Holy Spirit’s anointing and did the same thing as Jesus Christ? They healed the sick, raised the dead and cast out demons. What about believers today who operate in this same power of the anointing of the Holy Spirit?.….It’s one Spirit, one Anointing distributed among the believers of Jesus Christ as He sees the need for.

 

Question #4 The 2 witnesses cannot be female because they’re called prophets and not prophetesses, can they? 

 

According to the Word of God the 2 witnesses can also be either male or female. We see this when the word study is done on the word ‘prophets’ in these passages of Scripture: 

 

Revelation 11:10; 18. 

10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. 

18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. 

 

In both these verses the word prophets is Strong’s G4396. The definition of prophetes: a foreteller; prophet; an inspired speaker; An interpreter or spokesman for God; One whom through God speaks. 

 

The same Strong’s G4396 prophetes is also used throughout the New Testament including where both male and female prophets are being discussed. It’s one word for both the word prophet and prophetess. Paul has used the word prophets instead of saying prophets and prophetesses while discussing the order to be maintained inside a church service setting or building so there wouldn’t be any confusion. In addition when also talking about the different positions God has given to the church.

 

1 Corinthians 12:28-29 

28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 

29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 

 

1 Corinthians 14:29-33 

29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. 

30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. 

31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. 

32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 

33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 

 

Ephesians 4:11-12 

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 

 

****Here are a few other verses where Strong’s G4396 is also used for the word prophet/prophets. You can see it’s commonly used for both male and female. 

Romans 1:2; 3:21; 11:3; James 5:10; 2 Peter 3:2; Revelation 10:7; Revelation 16:6.***** 

 

We must never forget that in the kingdom of God there is no respect for persons with God according to His own Holy Word.. 

 

Romans 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God. 

 

Galatians 3:28-29 

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 

29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

So yes, the 2 end time witnesses according to the Word of God can be either male or female. 

 

With all this information found in the Word of God it is clear the 2 witnesses are never named. Nor are they brought back from the dead after their bodies have already decayed and turned to dust. Neither will those whose bodies have been changed and glorified and are already in heaven have their glorified body and eternal life stripped away and taken from them to return to earth to die again in a fleshly body. Their bodies have been changed for an eternity with Father God and Jesus Christ. The 2 witnesses/prophets will be filled with the anointing of God, the power given to them by God through the Holy Spirit as it is written in Revelation 11:3. Acts 1:8 also identifies that the believer of Jesus Christ’s power is given through the Holy Ghost Spirit. Read it for yourself. God’s ways are perfect and He will take the foolish things to confound the wise it says in 1 Corinthians 1:27.

 

Revelation 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.  

 

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 

 

To summarize it, the 2 end time witnesses' names according to the Word of God are never given. So they are whoever God calls them to be with the power of the anointing being utilized in them by the sweet Holy Spirit such were demonstrated by Moses and Elijah in their days. They can be either male or female, or one of each, because there is only one God, one Lord, one Spirit, the Holy Ghost Spirit which is the one and same Anointing we operate in that Jesus Christ, Himself operated in once He was baptized. 

 

1 Corinthians 12:4-7 

4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 

6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 

7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 

 

Now it’s up to you as a Child of God to pray, try, test and discern this in Jesus Christ’s Name. Then study it further with Holy Spirit, our Teacher’s help. 

 

John 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 

 

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. 

 

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
